Meet The New Teachers!

We have a handful of new teachers in the Napavine School District! Each has taken the time to share a little bit about them.

Rachel Warren, 4th Grade

"Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Warren and I am the new 4th grade teacher at Napavine Elementary. This is my third year teaching fourth grade and I love every moment of it! I graduated from Central Washington University and have a masters degree in curriculum and instruction. When I'm not teaching, I love going on hikes with my dogs and going to the sand dunes to ride quads. I am a lifelong learner, and am so excited to continue my career here in Napavine!"

Olivia Lewis, Special Education 4th-7th Grade

"Hi! I am a new resident of Washington State. I have been a teacher for 10+ years in many different roles.  Special Education has been my passion however for the past 5+ years. I grew up in a small town in East Texas and spent the last 3 years living in Central Illinois.  I am overjoyed to be in Washington near my family.  I am married to my husband Andrew West (who is also a teacher!) and we have a 13-year-old son going into the 8th grade this year."

Christine Uglick, 3rd Grade

Christine Uglick is our new third grade teacher. She started her career teaching Art/PE/Pre-K until she became a first grade teacher in Tenino, where she taught for the past 9 years.  She has two children; a 2 year old daughter and a son who just entered kindergarten at Napavine Elementary.  She is very excited to be a Tiger!

Lindsay Bullock, 7th & 8th Grade ELA

"I am originally from Nebraska but met Darin (HS P.E. teacher) while playing softball at Missouri Western State University. This will be my 9th year teaching. I have taught many grades including: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. I taught in Centralia until moving here this year. Watching and playing sports is my favorite thing to do, especially if my son Charles is playing. My favorite teams to follow are the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Nebraska Cornhuskers. My other favorite hobby is reading. My favorite books are Harry Potter, Where the Red Fern Grows, and All the Bright Places."

Jill Smith 9th & 11th Grade ELA

"I have been an ELA teacher for the past 28 years. Twenty-six of those were at Toledo and the past two were with Woodland Middle School. I love getting to read engaging stories with my students and am excited to be back teaching in a small high school."

Matt Deebach, 7th-12th Grade Agriculture and Shop

"I teach all Shopā€™s, STEM, and Environmental Biology.  These programs teach skills and abilities to get students ready for College, Trade schools, and the workforce.  Iā€™m also an FFA advisor at Napavine.  I have been teaching and advising students for the past 28 years.  I have taught Beginning and Advanced Agriculture Science, 8th grade Agricultural Science, Beginning and Advanced Shop, 8th grade Shop, Natural Resources, Agriculture Leadership, and Adult Welding Classes.  I have an associateā€™s degree from Everett College, 2 Bachelorā€™s degrees from Washington State University in Agriculture, and a Masters in Teaching from Grand Canyon University.   I have been around agriculture my whole life.  I have been in the meat processing industry, worked on Orchards, and ran my own Ranch with Cattle, Sheep and Hay production, and covered a lot of areas in between.   In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, and sports."

Tara Deebach, Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students

"My name is Tara Deebach, and this is my 25th year in education.  I have taught many different grades levels and subjects including, 6th-8th ELA, 9th-11th English, K-12 Physical Education, Secondary Health, History, Art, and a few other odds and ends.  I was previously an Athletic Director for 5 years and this is my 9th year as a Dean of Students.

My husband and I have 3 kids.  Our oldest daughter is a senior at Centralia College and is excited to begin her career in Accounting.  Our youngest daughter is currently attending Corban University pursuing a degree in Agriculture, and our son is a sophomore here at Napavine High School.  The staff and community have been very welcoming as we have made our big move from Eastern Washington to Western Washington."

Thank you for your continued support of our school district.
