The Napavine High School girls track team has achieved an extraordinary milestone by winning the Academic State Championship with a collective 3.83 GPA. The girls track team consisted of senior Keira O'Neill, juniors Jessie McCoy, Emily Kang, Savannah Johnson, Haley Gallagher, sophomore Maddie Dickinson and freshmen Jaxin Prather and Yessenia Mejia Rodriguez. The achievement marks the first time in school history a girls team of any sport has earned the accomplishment!
Coaches, teachers, and administrators have played pivotal roles in fostering an environment that encourages academic achievement alongside athletic development. This accomplishment speaks volumes about these girls' time management skills, resilience, and the ability to prioritize their responsibilities effectively.
At the WIAA State Track and Field Championships held in Yakima at Eisenhower High School, the team was recognized on the podium on Saturday, May 25th. The team was presented with a plaque, and each girl on the team received an Academic State Champion patch, as well as a medal. Their accomplishment is a shining example of what can be achieved with dedication, hard work, and a supportive community. Congratulations, girls!
